Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 8-10 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass over ice or strain up into a margarita or martini glass. To salt the rim properly first carefully dip in fresh lime juice and then dip into 1/4 inch of salt poured out on a plate.
Bitters are a fun and easy ingredient to add to your non-alcoholic drinks. They bring a nice little bite to whatever you’re drinking. Try some in sparkling water or with lemonade.
- 1 1/2 Cup Fresh Lemon Juice (Apprx 12-16 Lemons)
- 1 Cup Rosemary Syrup*
- 4 Cups Water
- 1 - 2 tsp Hella Citrus Bitters, to taste (12-24 Dashes)
1. Mix all ingredients together in a pitcher or bottle and allow some time for chilling.
2. Serve over ice in a tall glass, throw a fresh sprig of rosemary in and enjoy.
*Rosemary syrup: add two cups of water and two cups of sugar to a saucepan with 4 or 5 sprigs of fresh rosemary. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring to make sure all sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool, leaving the sprig in the liquid. This makes more than one cup of syrup and you can adjust the sweetness of the lemonade to your taste and use the leftover syrup for gin cocktails in the future. We're thinking rosemary gimlets with a few dashes of Hella Citrus Bitters.
When it's really hot this summer ice tea may be just the indulgence to cool you down. The aromatic and slightly tannic qualities of ice tea pair perfectly with a little sugar, lemon juice and now, bitters. For green tea's including Mint we suggest a couple dashes of Ginger Lemon, for black teas, the orange will pair perfectly. Either way this recipe is very simple, believing in the ancient rule that bitters + sugar = delicious.
- 8 oz Iced Mint or Green Tea
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
- 4 dashes Hella Bitters Ginger Lemon
- Lemon Wedge (Optional)
In a cup or glass of your choice combine ingredients and stir gently. Feel free to adjust sweetness or bitters to your taste.
Cheers to a Fun Summer Celebrations!
